Zhang Xiliang is a calligrapher coming from the Peach Blossom Valley; he is so fond of Tao Yuanming’s life style. In the last half century, he has been practicing in accordance with Tao’s idea expressed in his poem. He worked very hard to better his skill in calligraphy, silently, painstakingly and never give up. He learnt from Zhao Zhiqian, a Qing Dynasty scholar and calligrapher, and was not confined by Zhao’s style. He eventually formed his very style, bearing very clear mark of his personality. There were more than 70 works of Zhang Xiling displayed in this exhibition. They reflect extensively Zhang’s thoughts inherited form TaoYuanming, all show a supermundane and refined fashion of art. Zhang Xiliang has published dozens of collections of calligraphy works, another collection of his works was released by the People’s Art Publishing House on the same day of the open ceremony.
