“Kickboxing in China--Tenth Anniversary Celebration & Open Ceremony for First Fight” kicks off in Be

     Reported by Zhou Yeting: Co-sponsored by China International Cultural Communication Center (CICCC), Beijing Municipal Sport Bureau and Shenghua International Martial Arts Club, “Kickboxing in China—the Tenth Anniversary Celebration & Open Ceremony for the First Fight” was held on 1st, Dec, 2012 at Shenghua International Fighting Center in Beijing.

     Deputy Director of the Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress General Fu Tinggui, Party Group Secretary and concurrent Executive Chairman of CICCC, Chairman of Chinese Charity Project Committee Long Yuxiang, Art Director of CICCC General Zhang Zongyin, Tai Hesheng, Head of the Northwestern Liaison Office of CICCC General Yang Xinhong, Deputy Director of the Competitive Athletics Division of the General Administration of Sport Liu Aijie and an audience of more than 1000 together attended the event.

     Executive chairman addressed the opening ceremony, saying martial arts have been considered as an indispensable part of Chinese traditional culture. Martial arts have been generally appreciated by Chinese people and those of the world. It enables our dreams, and enriches our culture. People all over the globe are fond of martial arts of China. The event held that day is to mark the tenth anniversary of this sport brand, for which CICCC has devoted a lot. Therefore it was a time for us to recall the glory of the past, and to look to the brisk future. We hope sincerely that this event will carry out the spirit of Olympics, will spread Chinese traditional culture and will promote Chinese martial arts towards a more professional, more industrious direction. We hope we could contribute more in lifting the soft power of our nation internationally.

     Deputy Director of the Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress General Fu Tinggui announced it open. The first pair of contestants, namely Zhuang Shusong and Tang Weixiong went on the stage in prolonged cheers from the audience. Zhuang Shusong gained the upper hand in their fight. Another main event was the little giant "Taishan" Dong Jianjun (211cm) TKO Ibrahim. It was Dong Jianjun’s first appearance as a professional boxer, winning just in the K-1 ring wrestling. Champion Little Tornado Conn again went into battle to challenge the international front-line fighters; he has successfully battled a heavyweight boxer in Europe and America.

      Decades of vicissitudes witness the rise of the Chinese kickboxing industry. It was commenced at the lowest stage of the whole industry and has been gradually understood and accepted. It took ten years for it to complete transferred from a relative margined project to be accepted as a decent art and sport by mainstream society. Kickboxing in China—the Tenth Anniversary Celebration & Open Ceremony for the First Fight” attracted enthusiastic attention of the world. It does not only make great contribution to the promotion and development Chinese martial arts and Chinese culture as well, but also has made a positive contribution in forging professional exchanges between boxers of Chinese origin and other of international. We hope kickboxing in China will be appreciated by more and more domestically and internationally.
