Reported by Song Bihong: member of standing committee of the National People’s Congress, deputy director of Law Committee of NPC, concurrent vice chairman of China International Cultural Communication Center (CICCC) General Hu Yanlin, Party Group secretary and concurrent Executive chairman of CICCC, Chairman of Chinese Charity Project Committee Long Yuxiang met with the visiting former vice-premier of Thailand and currently the president of Thailand-China Cultural & Economic Society Mr. Phinij Jarusombat and his delegation on 6th, November, 2012. The two sides exchanged their views on cultural communications between their respective nations.

On behalf of CICCC, Hu Yanlin welcomed President Phinij Jarusombat and his delegation, He said that China and Thailand are friendly neighbors and close geographical proximity, cultural similarities, strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, trade, culture, education, in line with the fundamental interests of the two peoples. He expressed the hope that CICCC and Thailand-China Cultural and Economic Society will further strengthen ties and cooperation and promote good-neighborly friendship with each other. Hu Yanlin introduced briefly to President Phinij Jarusombat the results of the forthcoming 18th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. He suggested that the new leadership elected by the 18th Congress will continue to attach great importance to the well-being and development of friendship between Chinese people and that of Thailand, opening up new stage for new cooperation and relationship. The two should and would work together closely to push forward Asian economy and that of the world towards prosperity.

Long Yuxiang made a brief introduction of CICCC to the delegation; he claimed that as a very importance platform for international cultural communication, CICCC attaches great significance to exchanges in fields of economy, trade, culture, education between China and Thailand. He also introduced activities relating to Thailand organized by CICCC in past years, such as We Are Family—Artistic Performance, Spotlight on Chinese Ink Painting—Calligraphy and Painting Art Exhibition in Thai Royal Palace, China—Thailand Kickboxing Championship. He sincerely hoped that through effort made by China-Thailand Cultural and Economic Society, ties between the two sides would be further strengthened. Exchanges and cooperation between the two nations’ institutions of higher education will be further promoted. Long also hope that those excellent Thai kickboxing players come to China, and willing to make themselves the messengers of Sino-Thai friendship and exchanges.

Phinij Jarusombat agreed with HuYanling and Long Yuxiang’s opinions. He pointed out that the royal family attached great importance to the engagement and friendship with China. They hold strongly the principle of ‘One China’, they support China’s stand over Diaoyu Island. He hoped that through the visit, China--Thailand Cultural and Economic Society and China International Cultural Communication Center could establish a long-term cooperation mechanism to further deepen pragmatic cooperation in culture, arts, higher education, and sports events. Universities between two countries should play a more positive part in cultural exchanges. Kickboxing exchanges and contests would become normalized to benefit both sides. .

President of King’s college of Science and Technology of Thailand Teravuti Boonyasopon briefed the attendance on general situation of the college. He hoped that CICCC would make necessary arrangement for 9 college students from China to visit Thailand King’s College of Science and Technology every year. The college pledges to offer full scholarship for Chinese students.
